Copywriting isn’t just about putting words together. It requires learning about things you might never know about otherwise … like medical procedures, power harmonics, or the Internet of Things. It also gives you an excuse to “research” any number of topics like skiing, travel, and restaurants.

In my case, it started with a journalism degree from the University of Oregon. From there I worked as a copywriter and broadcast producer at four ad agencies before starting my own business in Seattle a few decades ago.

Along the way I’ve learned that regardless of their number, type, or tone, words are still words. No matter where or how they appear, their job is to tell a compelling story.
